It’s Doug Palson’s final day as Chief of the Dryden Police Service.
Acting Inspector Ed Chwastyk, currently with the Provincial Police, will take over from Chief Palson Saturday Novemeber 27.
“It’s been a very good stint in Dryden, closing out on six and a half years,” says Chief Doug Palson. “I’m very proud of this service, I’m proud of the community, especially proud of the members and their dedication to the community and the quality work they do.”
During his time with the service, Palson says there’s been many accomplishments.
“The work that our members did getting the community safety and well being plan going, especially in the area of the community situation table. I’m very proud of some of the partners we were able to develop and in a lot of cases maintain, the Dryden Native Friendship Centre, Kenora District Services Board, to the Northwestern Health Unit in trying to address community issues and keeping the community safe.”
Palson continues, “I just express my thanks to the community as a whole and emphasis the fact of the great work that has been done by and will continue to be done by members of the service, regardless of what they move on to. For the vast majority, they are continuing on in the policing field whether it be with the OPP or other police services in the region. Those services will be grateful to get them, they’re a very talented group of people.”
Palson will continue his career as Chief for a police service in Manitoba.
