The Dryden Police Service has introduced a new Chief of Police.
Acting Inspector Ed Chwastyk, currently with the Provincial Police, will take over from Doug Palson starting Saturday.
He will assume the role until the transition to OPP is expected to be completed on February 24.
Chwastyk brings 27-years of varied experience in policing, the majority of it in Northwestern Ontario.
He has served in a variety of leadership positions, the most recent being the Detachment Commander for the OPP in Dryden.
The Police Board is expressing its appreciation to Chief Palson for his service to the Dryden Police Service and to local citizens during his tenure.
He has accepted a similar position in Manitoba.
