The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting it’s largest single day case count of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
There are 40 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the region Saturday, with 38 new cases in the Kenora area, one in the Dryden/Red Lake region and one in the Sioux Lookout region.
No other details have been released.
There are now 62 cases considered active in the region.
Meanwhile, the Keewatin Patricia District School board announced a positive COVID-19 case at Dryden High School Friday, but there was no school exposure.
Follow up with the persons involved and their contacts has started.
Anyone who is identified as a contact for these cases will be notified directly.
NWHU recommends that everyone assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting 32 new cases today, with an active case count of 143.
In Ontario, 1,300 new cases are being reported.
