In loving memory of Thomas Tanner, age 83 years, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 3rd, 2016 in the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Thomas (Tom) Tanner was born November 8, 1932 in Pine Creek, MB. Tom married his beautiful wife Myrtle on June 19, 1956 and together they had and raised 11 children.
Thomas is survived by his children Marion (Floyd) Chartand Hinton, AB, Loretta (John) Tiefenbacher Dryden, ON, Lorraine (Randy) Storrey Oxdrift, ON, Lori (Walter) Kavanaugh Eagle Lake, ON, Elaine (William) Tanner Winnipeg, MB, Steve (Paula) Tanner, Winnipeg, MB, Sally Tanner, Portage La Prairie, MB, Rick (Laurie) Tanner, Dryden, ON, grandchildren: Ange, Dani, Liz, Mike, Albert, Kane, Marshall, Adam, Josh, Kayla, Bre-ann, Trevor, Isaiah, Travis, Lexy, Tanisha, Sierra, Alison and Ember, great grandchildren: Kierra, Kyle, Rayne, Raeann, Emily, Shiloh, Tessa, Kiana and Thorn, sisters: Christine and Louise Tanner, as well as numerous other relatives. Tom is predeceased by his wife Myrtle, his son Tommy, infant sons Michael and Joey and brother Rene Tanner.
Tom and Myrtle moved to Ontario with their family in November 1968. Tom worked as a commercial fisherman and later on for Reed Paper Mill in Dryden. Tom retired from work in 1982. During this time he enjoyed doing many things with his wife Myrtle. Together they travelled around to visit their children, grandchildren, and family in Manitoba and Tom’s sister in Calgary where they attended the Calgary Stampede. Tom and Myrtle loved to go to casinos; enjoyed watching square dancing competitions in Manitoba and playing TV bingo. Tom and Myrtle did some travelling to Alaska and Las Vegas which they enjoyed very much. In later years he enjoyed having family gatherings at his home in Dryden where all his family would gather for every special occasion.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Thomas’s life will be held Monday May 9th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Alan Campeau officiating. Interment of ashes will be held in the Dryden Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday May 8th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel of Stevens Funeral Homes with prayers to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
