Confederation College says its new mental health strategy is the first of its kind among Ontario colleges.
The game plan, which looks at how to better promote well-being among students, was officially launched Tuesday.
President Jim Madder says almost 50% of Confederation students surveyed stated they were under significant stress in the last year.
Madder says they couldn’t sit back and watch students fall to depressed and realized they had to do better.
The program, he says, is part of the College’s base level funding, and will be provided on an ongoing basis.
Madder adds they’ve piloted the approach throughout the last year, and have had great feedback from students.
