A $600-million class action lawsuit against the provincial government is being handled by a group of lawyers that includes Chris Watkins from Thunder Bay.
Watkins says it’s on behalf of the thousands of young people from who he claims were abused in provincial reform schools from the 1930’s to 1984.
Watkins says a number of youth from our region were sent to juvenile detention facilities that were meant to rehabilitate young people.
Watkins says children were sent to these centres for a better life, but instead were sexually or physically abused.
The claims have not been proven in court.
