The Dryden Regional Health Centre is introducing new visitor restrictions due to the presence of gastrointestinal type illness in the community.
Spokesperson Mary Jane Kruger says gastrointestinal illnesses include vomiting and diarrhoea.
Kruger adds to not come to the hospital to visit others if you have the flu, cold or gastrointestinal symptoms.
The same reminders apply to appointments at the hospital or clinic.
There is no visiting patients other than those that are as follows:
For patients who are critically or terminally ill, his/her primary nurse will use his/her judgement regarding family visiting.
Maternity patients: regular visiting hours to be observed, limited to spouse/partner or labour attendant.
One only parent/caregiver may remain with a child who is admitted.
Specified family members who are caregivers may continue to visit.
Kruger adds all clients and visitors will be asked to cleanse their hands upon entering and leaving the hospital.
