You can check out videos by our region’s French-language speakers that look back on the past 150 years.
Starting in November, Thunder Bay, Geraldton, Dryden, and Red Lake will host screenings of video testimonials put together by the Northwestern Ontario Francophone Association and filmmaker Kelly Saxberg.
The collection of ten two-minute clips is part of Ontario 150 celebrations.
In Thunder Bay, Le Réseau du Nord will celebrate Francophone immigration week on November 2nd from 6 to 9 PM by showing two clips, titled “Ils ont bien joué leurs cartes,” and “L’occasion de réaliser certains rêves,” at the Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay.
As part of Remembrance Day, the clip “L’un des meilleurs tireurs d’élite” will be shown at 11:30 AM at the Bay Street Film Festival.
On November 17th and 18th, Geraldton’s club La joie de Vivre is showing the video titled “La joi de Vivre a 30 ans” to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
In Dryden, you can watch “On a une petitre école maintenant” and “One est allé faire du bruit à Ottawa” on December 13th starting at 5 PM. The screening is hosted by École catholique de l’Enfant Jésus and the French Senior Club.
L’Association des francophones de Red Lake is presenting the clip “Nous avons levé le drapeau”. There is no set time or date for the screening yet, however organizers say it will likely be before December 31st.
