After years of planning and waiting, construction of the new Sioux Lookout Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre is set to begin.
A private members bill addressing aboriginal and treaty rights for the hospital passed third and final reading at the legislature last week.
Chris Cromarty, Chair of the Hospital Planning Board, says the hospital board can move forward after a 120-day waiting period.
Cromarty says the first step is to choose a site and then the process of amalgamating the Zone Hospital and the District Health Centre can begin.
He expects groundbreaking to get underway in the spring or fall of 2002.
