The forest fire hazard is now high across the northwest, with pockets of extreme in the Red Lake district and the far north.
High temperatures and steady winds have resulted in heavy smoke cover in Red Lake.

Meantime, fire crews from Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Minnesota continue to try and gain the upper hand on a large fire burning north of Whitedog First Nation.

25-crews have been assigned to the fire and they are trying to establish hoselines around the rear of the blaze with support from waterbombers.
20-personnel from the Northwest Territories are scheduled to arrive in the area Thursday to help ease the strain on firefighters.
