Saying we are in for a cold few days, Environment Canada has issued a 'Severe Cold Warning' across our end of the Northwest.

A prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected and wiind chills near minus 40 are expected overnight and Friday morning.  The warning area includes Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Ignace, Atikokan, Fort Frances, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Vermilion Bay and Kenora.  Anyone travelling west should know the warning extends to Winnipeg as well.

A bitterly cold Arctic airmass will remain in place through the weekend.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
