A woman of great strength and courage, a true warrier, our mother & nanny, Lena Ledoux bravely battled cancer for many years. On a peaceful Saturday afternoon, Feb 6, 2016, We had to say goodbye to her. She was a mom and Nanny until her last breath. With her family by her side God took her hand and guided her home to reunite with the family & friends who went on before her.
Mom was born in Camperville Manitoba in 1936. She started working early in age doing any kind of job from babysitting to cleaning houses to logging trees in the bush. When mom was in her teens she met and married the love of her life Howard. They moved to Dryden in 1957 and over the next several years moved between Dryden and Camperville having 3 children in Manitoba and 5 in Dryden.
Even while raising 8 children mom worked hard. She was a proud woman who never asked for help from anyone. She raised 8 children all of which had their names etched in each gray hair that mom had. Mom loved her kids but her grandchildren would put that sparkle in her eye and a smile on her lips. As a brother of hers always said, mom was the Mother of all mothers.
Lena was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1997, parents Jim and Lizzie Chartrand, sisters Eva and Delia, brothers hubert, Marcel and Allen. She is survived by all of her 8 children; Sons Rick, Ron, Bert and Gerry, daughters: Peggy (Marlon), Connie (Ananda), Anita (Kelvin)and Angie (Gerard). sisters Ruby Paquin, Alice Marion, Millie Flamand all of Dryden, Cauleen Stanley (Fort Frances)and Loretta Belanger (BC), brothers Norman Chartrand (Wpg), Frank Chartrand (dryden).13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom always had her arms open to everyone and hence became Mom or Nan to everyone who was lucky enough to meet her.
