Donnie Harry Dobransky
March 1, 1953 – January 30, 2016
It is with profound heartbreak and sorrow we announce the passing of our most loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who, passed away at home in Ignace, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer
Donnie was born in Fort Frances, ON to Josef and Frieda Dobransky. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Rhonda Halverson on May 19, 1972, and together they made Ignace their home residing here since their marriage. Donnie was known for his ability to do anything…he was a Jack of all trades and a master of them all. He owned and operated business’s, the last owned and probably the one he would be best known for being Castle Baits. Donnie took great interest and pride in Ignace as a whole and thereby was elected to town council, even having to act as Reeve for a short period of time. He had a great passion for the outdoors which is more than proven by his love of fishing, hunting, prospecting, gardening, and blueberry picking.
Donnie was predeceased by his parents, brother Ben, and mother-in-law Alice.
Donnie is survived by, and will be forever missed by his devoted and loving wife of 44 years, Rhonda, his son Jamie (Mel), and daughters Lynn and Donna (Brent). Donnie is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley, Kayle, Kamryn, James, Cassie and great grandson Levi. Left to mourn his passing also are his siblings Peter (Erica), Heidi (Tony), Mike (Joan), Will (Judy) along with several aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Amy Newman for her never ending devotion to Donnie’s care and well-being. Further, Donnie was so grateful and proud of his niece Lisa who was there to help, not only him but Rhonda also, through this most devastating and trying time.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Donnie at the Northwoods Motor Inn at 1pm on Saturday February, 6, 2016.
