In loving memory of Denis Fernand Coté age 68 who passed away after a short illness on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with his family at his side.
Denis is survived by his wife Carol Coté, son John-Paul (Kris) Coté of St. Catharines, daughter Danielle (Garde) Rutter of Dryden, and grandchildren, Hannah, Carli, Mathilda, and Wylie. Also survived by his brother Leo (Rachel) Coté, sister Adrienne (Ralph) Olson, brother-in-law Gordon Olson, and brother John (Laurie) Coté. Predeceased by his parents Paul and Mathilda Coté, and his sister Anita Olson.
Denis was born in Emo on March 21, 1948 to Mathilda and Paul Coté. After a short time Denis and his family moved to McIntosh, Ontario and attended the residential school there before moving to Dryden in 1957. Denis and Carol married on September 1, 1967 and went on to raise two children at the home they built in Oxdrift.
Denis started working at the Dryden Paper Mill after he graduated from Dryden High School, later pursuing a career as a heavy duty mechanic. He retired as the health and safety coordinator for the Wood Room/Stud Mill.
Denis had many passions. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors whether fishing, gardening, cutting wood, or just going for a walk. One of his favourite places was the Hardy camp on Eagle Lake where he spent many summers with family and friends. Restoring his 1957 Chevy Belair was a lifelong dream he completed after 40 some years.
Denis touched many peoples’ lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a Memorial Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 17th, 2017, 11am at St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Father Dick Kennedy officiating. Fellowship to follow in the Church hall.
