The Dryden Fire Service is continuing a pro-active home smoke and carbon monoxide alarm awareness campaign.
Volunteer firefighters have been going door-to-door ensuring everyone has a working alarm.
Fire Chief Ryan Murrell says this is the first such prevention campaign since 2014.
Murrell says it is the law in Ontario to have a working smoke alarm on each storey of your home and notes most stop working after ten years of use.
He says there was some resistance at the beginning but states most people are now aware that it’s all about public safety.
Murrell says they have provided 38 smoke alarms so far and adds they have procured another 200.
Murrell says it’s their goal is to inspect 495 homes in Dryden, adding they are now at 278.
He says they have covered north Dryden and are now filtering into south Dryden.
