A Dryden woman is asking local residents to join her and open their hearts to help keep area kids warm this Winter.
Gerry Powell was a guest on the CKDR Morning Show Friday to announce that she has launched a Winter Mitt program.
Powell is now accepting new mitts, which will be donated to local area elementary schools.
She says donations can be dropped off at the Dryden Public Library and Sew Many Things at 29A King Street.
Powell notes the mitts can be knit, sewn, crocheted or purchased.
Powell says she got the idea after a similar initiative run by the Canadian Red Cross was cancelled.
