Lobbying the province to improve transportation services in this region.
That is one of the main items on the agenda at the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association Annual General Meeting in Thunder Bay.
The conference starts Wednesday and wraps up Friday and has attracted municipal leaders from across the region.
NOMA President Wendy Landry says they are advocating for the government to step up to the plate and subsidize some of our transportation issues here in the northwest.
She would like to see similar services and opportunities here as in southern Ontario.
Landry says immigration will also be top of mind, stressing they want to grow the number of newcomers to the area.
She notes some of our communities are dwindling in numbers and believes attracting more immigrants will help solve the problem.
Landry says Municipal Affairs is also involved in the AGM.
