It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick George Wall, age 76 announce his passing on Saturday August 24, 2002 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre after a lengthy illness. Fred is survived by his wife Eva, sons David (Merle) of Vancouver B.C., Tom (Debbie) of Dryden, Randy (Maureen) of Dryden, Lawrence (Sherry) of Dryden, daughter Rose Bard of Radium, B.C., Grandchildren Olivia and Elton Wall and, Burton Canan; Stepshildren Shirley, Tim and Julie; Sisters: Hilda Watts, Gladys Boivin, Clara (Ralph) Titze, Evelyn (Earl) Hannett, also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Donald, Gordon, Elmer, Ernie and Raymond and sisters Rita Thompson and Elsie Jaraway. Fred was born April 4, 1926 to Cliff and Freda Wall of Minnitaki, ON and was the eldest of 12 children. Fred joined the Navy at an early age and after serving in the forces returned to Dryden to begin work at the Dryden Paper Company. In 1965 he changed careers and became a boiler inspector for the Ontario Government until his retirement. After retirement he consulted for various firms in Eastern, ON. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and farming. In later years he was involved in furniture restoration, woodworking, machining and also gardening. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was a very active Legion Member.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Tuesday August 27, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. with Legion Padre Mary Mennell officiating. Legion Service with honour guard to follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to the Lung Association or the Northern Cancer Research through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3
