It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather Orville H. Wrolstad, 82, of Dryden. He passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Friday November 16, 2001.
Orville was born in Berglund, ON on August 8, 1919, to Rose and Henry Wrolstad. He spent his early years on the family farm, and worked in logging camps with his own team of horses at age 12. He served in the North Pacific for 3 years during WW2. He worked for the CN railroad as a car inspector for 14 years. Orville was married August 31, 1946 to Marguerite Evans. They moved to Dryden in 1964 where he began a career with the Dryden Paper Company and worked there until his retirement in 1984. He lived on Anton Road with his wife until his death. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Marguerite, sons Glen (Doreen) , Gary (Judy) David (Marilyn), Bill (Patty) all of Dryden and his beloved daughters Diane (Tom) Patterson of Robert’s Creek, B.C., and Cecilia (Daryl) Stanley of Balmoral, MB. He also leaves to mourn 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister Edith Froome, and brother Vernon (Lorna). Orville was predeceased by his parents, brothers Earl, Marvin, Kenneth and Delphes and sisters Maxine Makuk and Evelyn McKenzie. Orville enjoyed hunting, fishing and took great pride in his gardening. He loved to share these passions with his family. Visitation was held at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Sunday November 18, 2001 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Monday November 19, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ted Searle officiating. Interment followed in the Dryden Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons Darren Wrolstad, Danny, Christopher, Andrew, Scott and Rick Gadd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princess Court or Grace Haven through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
