The Northwestern Health Unit says it charged more than 10 businesses in the Kenora-Rainy River Districts this week for allowing smoking on their premises.
The Health Unit began issuing compliance orders on Monday and Health Unit Spokesperson Bill Limerick says more will likely be issued in the coming days.
He adds that he has been getting a lot of feedback, not all of it in favour of the smoking crackdown.
Limerick adds that some of the businesses that have been charged are continuing to allow smoking, while others have decided to butt out altogether.
