A messy start to the work week.
Geoff Coulson from Environment Canada says we can expect a mix of precipitation today.
“Certainly winter-like weather is hanging on right across northwestern Ontario,” states Coulson.
“Temperatures Monday morning are right around the freezing mark. We’re actually getting reports of freezing rain. So this is a really messy mix of weather with this system with the possibility of snow or ice pellets.”
Coulson adds that areas to the west of Thunder Bay have weather advisories out due to freezing rain.
“We’re getting a variety of different types of precipitation reports from this system, and in fact expecting maybe a little bit more in the way of maintained freezing rain to the east of the Lake of the Woods area. So we have special weather statements for areas west of Lake Superior where their periods of freezing rain could last a little longer.”
Coulson says the freezing rain and snow should only last today, with temperatures warming up slightly tomorrow.
