The McGuinty Government has established new regulations for truck drivers using ice roads in the far North this winter.
Last year, the Province agreed to use Manitoba regulations, allowing truckers to be on duty for up to 15 hours.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says the MTO has tinkered with the regulations and he has mixed feelings about the changes.
Hampton says the Manitoba model worked quite well.
Under the new regulations, truckers will be allowed an extra 45 hours of driving time on ice roads over and above the 60 hour per week limit currently in place.
