It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Garry Peter Ogier, who passed away after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday May 29, 2012 3:15 pm at Dryden Regional Health Center. He was 64 years old.
He is survived by his children Bradley, Cory (Julie) and Tara (Mike), his grandchildren Meaghan, Erica, Cassie, Alex, Shawn, Aryanna and Erica. He is also survived by his siblings Harold, Phyllis, Ron, Joyce, Allan, Ruth, Patsy and Joan as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Lillian Ogier and a niece Deanna.
Garry was born in Rainy River, ON on January 19, 1948. He was raised on the farm in Devlin, ON where he developed his strong work ethic.
He relocated to Atikokan in 1964 to work at the Iron Mines and then 1 year later, the Atikokan Forrest Products. He remained a faithful, hardworking employee for over 40 years until his illness forced an early retirement. Garry was proud of having over 26 years of service with no workplace injury Garry moved to Dryden, ON in June 2011 to be closer to his daughter.
Throughout the years, Garry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, darts, playing cards and lets not forget bingo, where he earned the nickname “Lucky.” He joined the Go Getters in Dryden and enjoyed travelling with his bowling and bingo crew. Garry also enjoyed traveling to visit his children and grandchildren in Winnipeg and Montreal.
Pops will be remembered for his sense of humor.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of Garry’s life will be held on Saturday June 9th, 2012, at the Box Alder Cemetery Devlin, Ont at 11 a.m., with Rev Diane Clifford officiating. Reception to follow at the Devlin Community Hall.
