The Dryden GM Ice Dogs couldn’t complete the dream season.
A late third period powerplay goal, the first one allowed by the Ice Dogs at the Dudley Hewitt Cup, was the difference in a 7-4 loss to Wellington in the championship game Saturday night at the Memorial Arena.
The Dukes added an empty net goal to seal the deal.
The Final was a crazy, back and forth scramble, that saw multiple lead changes.
Kris Hamlin scored a pair of goals, while Conner Mowatt and Ted Davis added singles.
Shots were even at 35.
The Dukes will represent Central Canada at the Royal Bank Cup in Chilliwack, B.C. starting next Saturday.
