MP’s met in front of the National War Memorial today and Prime Minister Harper laid a wreath in honour of Corporal Nathan Cirillo who was shot and killed by a lone gunman.
A man was quickly arrested after crossing the police tape.
The Prime Minister later addressed Parliament and is promising to make life difficult for any would be terrorists.
Stephen Harper is promising the government will expedite measures that will strengthen police powers in the areas of surveillance, detention and arrests.
Harper, acknowledged, what a difficult time it was for all members, saying they woke up not realizing they might have to lay their lives on the line.
He says its hard to understand how we can have people who hate progress and torture children.
Harper notes he’s bothered that two terrorists attacks this week were carried out by Canadians who have been living in a peaceful country.
The hero of Wednesday’s shooting, Sergeant-At-Arms Kevin Vickers, was given an extended standing ovation when he walked into the house as part of his regular duties.
