The Federal Government is not going forward with a judicial review on Jordan’s Principal.
The Liberals have decided they won’t go to court over health care services for First Nations children after reaching an agreement with the parties in a case before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
In an interview with Acadia News, Indigenous Services Minister Jane Philpott says this is very exciting news.
“It means we can move ahead obviously. We’ve been working very, very hard on implementing Jordan’s Principal. This a principal that affirms that first nations children should get access to health needs and services they require.”
Philpott adds that if First Nations children are not receiving the services and supports they need, families are encouraged to contact them.
