WOODBECK, Mildred Irene (nee Anderson) passed away at Princess Court on June 28, 2024, at the age of 98. Mildred was born August 22, 1925.
Mildred was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Hollstedt in Maple Ridge, BC, and by her second husband Albert Woodbeck in Thunder Bay, ON. Her daughter Anna Christine Hollstedt passed away on November 2017, in Dryden ON.
Mildred is survived by her children, Robert (Linda) Hollstedt, and Andrew (Christine) Hollstedt. By her grandchildren Erick, Jonathan, Taylor, Megan, Madeline and her great grandchildren Reina, Anders, Hannah, Willa and Lincoln.
Mildred was born in Dryden, Ontario where she attended public school, and Dryden High School.
In August 1947 Mom graduated from the General Hospital of Port Arthur School of Nursing. She was awarded for Highest Standing in General Proficiency. While in Dryden raising her children she worked at the Dryden Hospital. She later moved to Thunder Bay and there worked as a nurse with the Victorian Order of Nurses.
Mom, Grandma, always had the cards ready for a game, and the kettle ready for tea. She very much enjoyed her weekly get togethers with the card ladies.
You would often find her with a set of knitting needles in her hands making that sweater or socks for a family member.
She always wanted to be kept up to date on what her grandchildren and great grandchildren were up to. She loved seeing the new pictures of the kiddos.
Upon returning to Dryden, about 20 years ago, Mildred was a very active member of the First United Church. She definitely enjoyed her church family time. One of the many things she did was volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
We would sincerely like to thank the Staff at Princess Court, Dryden, for their Care and Compassion in taking care of our Mom and Grandma.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the First United Church in Dryden, on Saturday September 28, 2024 at 11 :00 am. Interment will follow at the Dryden Cemetery.
