Hockey season is just around the corner.
The Dryden GM Ice Dogs open their training camp today at the Dryden Memorial Sports Center.
Jake Gushue is the new GM and Head Coach and says he appreciates the support of the community and the hockey club.
“You know something we wanted to make clear from day one is to make sure everyone was on the same page,” states Gushue.
“So, we as a collective group, with it our being our team, and not one particular person, came up with the identity of the team, and how we want to operate our business.”
Gushue adds he’s looking forward to training camp.
“Definitely a lot of changes from last year. We have some stuff we’re keeping the same as well, but I think we’re heading in the right direction. I like the collaborative approach to how we operate on a day-to-day basis.”
Gushue says they have a couple of inter-squad games starting Friday night and they will be an “All-Star” game at 11:30 Sunday morning.
The team will open the season on the road on September 14th against the Kam River Fighting Walleye.
A new team logo will be unveiled tonight.
