Emergency Services were busy in Atikokan last night.
They not only had to deal with a house fire, but there was a gas leak at the same time at the opposite end of the town.
The incidents were reported around 8:00 last night.
The house fire took place in the 100 block of Willow Road.
The OPP say the blaze caused extensive interior damage to the single detached residence.
No-one was injured, the the Atikokan OPP and Atikokan Fire Rescue are working to determine the cause.
Police say six minutes after the fire was called in, there was a gas leak on Rawn Road.
Homes around the gas leak had to be evacuated and the area was cordoned off.
The utility was finally able to cap the gas leak and the “all clear” was given around 10:30.
The cause of the rupture is attributed to a private excavation.
