Two groups fighting to prevent an underground nuclear waste facility from being built in northern Ontario will bring their case to city council in Thunder Bay.
Environment North and Nuclear Free Thunder Bay will hold a peaceful demonstration before Monday’s meeting and then make a presentation to council.
They do not want the $26-billion nuclear dump to be built in Ignace and have concerns over transporting the waste through the region.
However, the Wabigoon First Nation has yet to agree or vote on the proposed project, which is imperative in order to proceed.
A decision on where the project will be located is expected by the end of the year with Ignace and South Bruce in the running.
