Sheryl (Sherry) Sawdo
September 26, 1954 – July 29, 2024
It is with great sorrow that the family of Sherry Sawdo wish to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter etc. on July 29, 2024. Sherry will be sadly missed by all that met and knew her. She passed peacefully with her family by her side after years of struggles with her health. Her strength, mind and spirit were with her until the end as she continued to fight until her final passing moments.
She was born in Fort Frances on Sept 26, 1954 and grew up in Barwick before moving to Geraldton. She moved to Ear Falls in 1980 and was widowed in 1981. She met Allan in 1989 and they moved to Dryden, where she lived until the end. Early years she worked at her parent’s tourist camp and then worked in banking before becoming an insurance broker. Sherry was game for anything indoors or out, loved and excelled at card games. Her greatest joy came whenever her grandchildren visited. Sherry was also extremely generous. Many complete homes were furnished by Sherry’s donations.
She loved garage sales as she could buy items that she would later donate to people in need or decorate her home.
She is survived by her children Ross, Michelle, Tammy, Scott, Derrick, Shawn, and Teanna, along with 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, Mother, brother, 2 sisters and many, many adopted family members. There are also many aunts, uncles and cousins, too many to mention. She was predeceased by her husband Keith in 1981, Father Ross in 2011, Mother-in-law Jean in 2018.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Mardi Plomp officiating.
A Private family gathering will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2024 at Sherry’s home and her ashes will be dispersed as to her wishes on her beloved property.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dryden Community Table c/o First United Church, 23 Van Horne Ave, Dryden, ON P8N 2A6.
