Two men from Thunder Bay have been fined over $14,000 for illegally hunting moose.
One of the men was David Boileau, the owner of the Blue Lantern Lodge northwest of Atikokan.
Back in October of 2022, conservation officers found that a hunter shot and killed an adult moose without a valid moose license.
Through investigation, it was found that the lodge owner issued the adult cow moose validation tag.
Curtis Fabischek of Thunder Bay pleaded guilty to hunting moose without a license and was fined $1,500.
The MNRF also says Boileau failed to keep records of Fabischek and other registered guests staying at Blue Lantern Lodge.
Boileau failed to retain the records for the required period of three years and unlawfully obtained a license by failing to notify the ministry of his change in residency, leading to him possessing a moose license that was void.
He has been fined $13,000.
