With the hot weather, and little rain this week, the forest fire situation in the northwest is starting to heat up.
There are now 23 active wildfires in the region including six yesterday.
The Red Lake District has been the busiest with 3 yesterday and another 3 on Wednesday.
The Sioux Lookout and Nipigon Districts have also seen a number of new fire starts.
The fire hazard is extreme in the western and southern portions of the Red Lake District.
The remainder of the region is in the moderate zone, with pockets of low and high.
