Two First Nations communities in the Kenora area are ending their association with Treaty Three Police Service.
Wabaseemoong Independent Nations and Grassy Narrows cite insufficient and ineffective policing that has led to an increase in violence, drug use and deaths.
The two communities say they have had numerous meetings with Treaty Three Police, but they have led to negligible response.
They say they will terminate their policing contracts in 100 days.
Community-governed police services will take over.
