The public will get a chance to have some input on the next two phases of twinning of Highway 17 west.
A public information session is being held tomorrow by the consultant designing the divided highway.
Peter Kirby is a concerned citizen says they’ll be out handing out leaflets outlining their main concern.
“There’s been no promise of tunnels for animal crossings and no promise for bridges for animal crossings on the twinning of the highway between Kenora and the Manitoba border,” states Kirby.
Kirby says he would like to see the designs updated to incorporate those features.
“Our main concern at this point is to get the Ministry (of Transportation) to build tunnels and bridges under and over the highway to allow animals to cross.”
Kirby says a number of highways have been built in Canada and the United State in recent years incorporating bridges and culverts for animals.
The open house will run from 4 pm until 8 pm at the Super 8 Motel.
