The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are appealing to city council once again for an expansion of their dressing room.
President of the hockey club, Mike Sveinson says their current room at the Dryden Memorial Arena is the smallest in the SIJHL.
“We’re dealing with aproximately 300 square feet in that locker room,” Sveinson explained to city council in a deputation earlier this week.
“So the 300 square feet I mentioned, is typically less than half the size of our peer clubs in the SIJHL and a significantly less when expanded across Canadian junior hockey.”
Sveinson feels their ask is pretty reasonable, they just need more room for their dressing room.
“There is no shower or bathroom in our locker room. So this lack of space and facilities necessitates the use of other rooms in the building.”
The price tag for the upgrades has been put at about $200,000 and seems to have the support of most of council.
Mayor Jack Harrison adds they will see if there is any funding from other levels of government for the improvements to the Ice Dogs dressing room.
