Donald (Don) Ford Tattrie
September 26, 1940 – May 13, 2024
Dad left this world peacefully on May 13, 2024 after receiving a cancer diagnosis in December and fighting hard until now.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Irene (Teeple) Tattrie, brother Earl (Barb) Tattrie step-father Albert Danielson, first wife Barbara, and our Mom, Joyce.
Dad lives on in his children Don Jr. (Janet), Danny (Karen), Diana (Tony), Denise (Brian), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and his best buddy Duncan (currently being cared for by Robin).
Living in the 1940’s was hard, but the little family of 4 managed. Grandpa Vernon died in a mining accident in the early 1950’s and growing up was sudden . Lying about one’s age in order to obtain a job was common. Dad worked on the railroad, in the mines, as a machinist, appliance repairman, resort owner, logger, trapper and found the simple life off-grid was most peaceful for him. Dad loved reading and sharing stories of his adventures in the bush. “Avid-outdoors man” really doesn’t begin to sum up what Dad knew about the forest, lakes and animals in our area.
Per Dad’s request, cremation has taken place and no service will occur. A private internment will occur at a later date.
