It’s going to cost more to replace furnaces and the HVAC system at the Dryden Library and city hall.
Public Works manager Blake Poole says the city’s portion of the project will increase by almost $129,000.
“Just in the last two weeks, the NOHFC informed us that they would not support the full funding request because it’s part of city administrative building,” Poole told council Monday night.
“They agreed to contribute to library portion of it.”
Poole says the total project cost is about $215,000.
“There are six furnaces that we’re replacing. Two of them are for the library. We just want to do all the furnaces at once with one contractor, and the same for the roofing. A portion is for the library roof and there is a portion, a smaller portion for the city hall roof.”
Poole believes that by doing all the work at the same time, the city will get a better price instead of doing it piecemeal.
Originally the city had budgeted just over $89
The city’s application to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is now just over $44,000.
