Margarite (Marg) Spicer
March 8, 1932 – May, 12 2024
In loving memory of Marg Spicer, age 92, who passed away peacefully after a short stay at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on May 12, 2024.
Marg is survived by her daughter Lori Barker (Bart) , daughter-in-law Cathy Spicer; grandchildren Dale Barker (Rebecca), Shawn Barker (Marissa), Drew Spicer (Chris Broman), David Spicer (Courtney); 4 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Fay Bridgwater, nephew Stu Bridgwater (Joanne) and niece Debbie Felske (Mike Armstrong) and their families. Marg was predeceased by her parents May and Astley Bridgwater, husband Frank Spicer in 1997 and son Terry Spicer in 2008.
Marg was born and raised in Dryden. She shared many happy memories of growing up in their home on Duke Street, making lifelong friends and enjoying those simpler times. On June 4, 1954, she married her High School sweetheart, Frank Spicer, and together they raised their two children, Terry and Lori. Family life for the Spicer’s involved camping, fishing (with many pitstops at “the island”), backyard BBQ’s with the neighbourhood, family and friends. The introduction of lawn darts became a play-at-your-own-risk sporting event for anyone who dared. The addition of the camp on Ghost Lake created many of the best parts of growing up for Terry and Lori and later for the grandchildren. Marg also enjoyed her ladies golf group and the coffee gang. Winters were spent at the Curling Club, snow machining and ice fishing. Many Legion events were also part of their active social life.
Marg was an active member of the Dryden Lioness Club for many years, and a volunteer at the Princess Court Tuck Shop.
Marg’s family was the greatest joy in her life – and that joy has spread into the lives of her family and dear friends, present and past.
