A couple of weeks ago the Eagle River Rec Centre was a buzz with area residents enjoying entertainment, food and much more.
Eagle River resident and volunteer, Connie Calvert, was there and offers the following recap of the event….
“The Municipality of Machin and Dryden Native Friendship Centre collaborated to bring a Coffeehouse fundraiser to Eagle River Rec Centre on Friday, April 19/24. It was a resounding success and everyone enjoyed an evening of live entertainment, a penny auction and door prizes. Councillor Greg Swanson pitched in and gave Crystal Verbonik a hand making bannock. Connie Korzinski chopped veggies for Carman Brignall’s homemade wild rice soup (served with bannock). They also sold bannock burgers and hot dogs.
DNFC and Machin staff members worked setting up, decorating, food purchases, admission, ticket sales and clean up. I always say, it takes a village!
Everett Rourke provided professional sound and Bonnie Leutschaft did an awesome job of MCing for the event.
We enjoyed live performances from Harmony Holmes, Sunset Country Ukulele Group, Shannon Murdick, Michelle Carter, Bonnie Leutschaft and Karl Friesen. We topped off the evening with stellar entertainment from Bush Whiskey. The place was packed and everyone rocked to the music. Thank you so much to all the performers who provided their time and talent. Special thanks to Lloyd, Everett and Bonnie for working with me to bring the musical part of this event to fruition. It takes many hands.
MUSIC IS MAGICAL!”
