Louanne Gibson
September 18, 1944 – March 13, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Louanne Gibson announces her passing on March 13, 2024. She left us to join hands with God and reunite with her husband Garry and very special friend Kathy.
Louanne will be remembered and missed by her children, Michele (Brian) Yaroshuk, Sheila Lyle (Darren Sillery), Jim Lyle, Wendy (Guy) Langlais, and Marty (Stannis) Gibson. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Megan Sillery (Marshall), Katelyn Sillery (Brayden), Jeff Lyle, Jayden Lyle, Tyler (Lindsay) Langlais, Andrew Langlais, Cody Montgomery, Anthony Gibson, Allyson Gibson, her great-grandsons Theander and Elliot Langlais, and her faithful companion, Little Missy.
Louanne was born in Oak Lake, Manitoba on September 18, 1944, to Emma and Joseph Masson. She was the second oldest of eight siblings. She moved to Dryden in 1964 and began her family.
Louanne had a passion for working in the hospitality industry and enjoyed every minute of it. She spent approximately 20 years at the Best Western, where she met her husband, gained a son-in-law, and met many lifelong friends. Before the Best Western she worked at Harley’s Supermarket and Safeway. After leaving the Best Western she was a friendly greeter at Walmart followed by working at the Central Hotel. Louanne also cherished her time volunteering at Dryden Regional Health Centre.
In 1987 she married the man that warmed her heart, Garry Gibson. The two of them had a wonderful life filled with annual vacations in tropical locations where they could soak up the sun. In their retired years they spent winters in Florida and Yuma, where she developed and maintained great friendships with members of those communities.
Louanne was very generous with her time and loved spending it with her family and friends. She hosted annual Christmas Eve parties that are still talked about today! Many hours were spent on Wabigoon Lake enjoying the pontoon boat with family and friends. Her heart was filled with even more love when her grandchildren came along. She cherished every minute with them.
Her home and heart were open to all!
A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Best Western with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date.
