A 45 year old man from the Marten Falls First Nation faces a number of charges after a firearm was discharged.
The incident took place Sunday afternoon after Nishnawbe Aski Police responded to a call of possible gunfire at a home that community.
When officers arrived at the scene they learned a male suspect was in possession of a handgun and waving it around in a careless manner.
He had discharged it and police learned there were children in the home at the time.
There were no injuries reported and the handgun was seized by police.
The suspect faces nine charges including careless use of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a reckless manner.
Other charges include:
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2
- Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
He remains in custody and is due to appear in Thunder Bay Court at a future date.
