The last remaining service of Alterna Savings and Credit Union in Ignace will be gone as of the end of April.
In September the financial institution closed up shop in the community citing staffing issues, leaving residents with an hour drive to its nearest branch in Dryden or use of the ATM.
However, a notice posted near the ATM says it will be permanently closed as of 9 a.m. April 26th, restricting customers to having to leave the community for cash or service.
This latest development deals yet another blow to the town and its ability to attract new business and residents.
Township officials say they are aware of the development and remain unhappy with the financial institutions overall decision and concerned over the level of service for the community.
Requests for comment from Alterna were not returned by deadline.
