Delegates from across the region will be arriving in Kenora this afternoon for the Kenora District Municipal Association Conference.
This is the first time in five years the municipal leaders have met face to face.
President of KDMA Kevin Kahoot says this is kind of a kick start to the municipal association.
“It’s a chance to, I hate to us the word rebrand, but to refocus on the issues that are important to the Kenora and Kiiwetinoong District,” says Kahoot.
“We want to do a bit more lobbying on our behalf. I think it’s fitting that we’re starting to meet again and it’s in Kenora.”
He suggests the goal this year is to revive the organization.
“It’s a good opportunity now. There’s a lot of new faces on municipal councils. There are some new mayors and some new staff. I think it’s just a good chance to network with some of the peers, and be able to talk issues that really affect pretty much all municipalities in the Kenora District.”
While there will be an official reception tonight at the museum, the main sessions will take place all day Friday and Saturday morning at the Minis Hall at the Super 8.
