A number of meetings are being held this week for municipalities affected by the pullout of Bearskin Airlines this spring.
Kenora MP Eric Melillo says this is a major issue that’s affecting people right across northwestern Ontario.
“We know that people right across the region rely on this service, oftentimes for essential transportation…medical appointments and things of that nature, so it’s definitely concerning for me,” said Melillo.
Melillo says he has meetings set up with municipal leaders and the Kenora Airport Authority to discuss options for flight service to Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances.
“I want to hear from them more directly how vital this is and how termination of this service will affect them and we’ll move forward on a plan to rectify that.”
As of May 11, Bearskin says it will no long provide daily service to Kenora, Dryden and Fort Frances.
