The Kenora Catholic District School Board is looking at an increase in revenue this year.
The revised financial statements were presented to trustees Tuesday night.
Superintendent of Business Services Alison Smith says their revised budget is almost a million dollars higher than set out this past June.
“The total of revenue is projected to be at $34,126,000,” Smith told trustees at their final open meeting of 2023.
“If you take your revenues and you less your expenses, we are reporting a projected annual deficit of $336,661.”
The main reason for the bigger budget is an increase in student enrolment.
Smith says it’s gone up by 24 compared to their estimate of 1,260 back in June.
“With our changes in our enrolment, that would give us a little bit of an increase in revenues. Now the funding varies based on where those increases are, as different grade categories have different funding allocations.”
St. John School in Red Lake had the biggest enrolment increase with 10 students.
Smith says the deficit is mainly because of inflation, higher fuel costs and an increase in benefit costs for staff.
She adds their deficit falls within Ministry of Education guidelines, which is one percent of their budget.
