Margaret Bailey
1940 – 2023
Margaret Laura Bailey passed away on November 22, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at Vancouver General Hospital, after suffering a stroke.
Born October 14th, 1940, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Laura (Merkley) and Archibald Kemp, Margaret was the third youngest of 13 children. In the early 1960’s, after finishing business school, she moved to Dryden, Ontario to find office work. In her new town she met her husband, Barry Bailey, and started a family of 3 children: Brad, Jeff and Kelly. Then in the winter of 1973, Marg and family moved west to Prince George, British Columbia. In the late 1980’s she took some college courses and returned to the workforce, doing secretarial work for the Crown Council office until retiring.
Marg enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, True Crime documentaries, and cooking and baking which will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She took art courses later in life and discovered she had a talent for painting. She was active in her church and had many friends, loving her time and visits with them all. But more than anything, Marg was devoted to her family.
Margaret will be forever loved and missed by her adoring husband Barry (just shy of 60 years married), and her proud children Brad (Michelle), Jeff (Kari), and Kelly (Scott). As well as the grandchildren who brought her so much joy over the years: Alexa, Ashlee, Avril, Jaxon, Brooklyn, and Rachel. She is survived by her siblings, David, Gary, and Kathy, along with many nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be announced in the near future.
