The federal fall economic statement is getting a big thumbs down from the MP for the Kenora Riding.
Conservative Eric Melillo says there is no plan to tackle Canada’s increasing deficit and is worried the housing promises are just too cumbersome.
“It’s a plan from this government just to continue with inflationary spending and no plan to get back to balanced budget,” says Melillo.
“We also see no plan to cancel their carbon tax hikes that are continuing to make life more unaffordable. I truly believe this is not realistic plan within this economic statement to build homes.”
Melillo says the Liberal government’s plan to build new homes is too bureaucratic, and there isn’t enough help to encourage the private sector.
“Spending a lot on more bureaucratic programs that so far over the last eight years have shown they are not building enough housing and there’s not plan to spur that private investment to encourage any of that.”
The Conservatives says the fall statement adds over $20 billion worth of new spending over the next 10 years.
