Marjorie Ellen Price
July 15, 1938 – November 12, 2023
On November 12, 2023 at 5 p.m. Marjorie aka Marg at the age of 85 passed away peacefully following a short battle with cancer with her family by her side. Marge was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and friend.
She was the proud Mother of five children, Walter, Garnet (Darla), Bernice Simmons (Bill), Edward (Michelle) and Lawrence (Crystal), Grandchildren Shane, Sheena, Chad, Brad, Shawna, Amy, Cassie, Connor and Cohen, Step-Grandchildren Kelsie and Krystle. She also was so proud to have Great Grand Children Zak, Bailey, Sawyer, Jaxson, Parker and Isabel.
She was predeceased by her Husband Granville Price in Jan 2010, her son Lawrence December 2021. Her beloved sister Patricia Price, brothers Bill and Ed Cronley. She is survived by her Children Walter, Garnet, Edward and Bernice, all of her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, as well as her sisters Theresa and Brenda.
Marjorie was born on July 15, 1938 to Terry (Terence) and Dorothy Cronley in Dinorwic Ontario. She was their oldest child, Patricia (1940), Ed (1941), Bill (1944), Theresa (1951) and Brenda (1960). Later the family moved to Ignace where her father worked for CP Rail. Marjorie met the love of her life Granville and they soon married on October 7, 1958 in Red Lake. Early in their marriage they moved around from Saskatchewan to Red Lake finally settling in Dryden to raise their family. They built a small home on Airport Road being one of the first residents to move on the road, later adding another small home on the property to help their kids when first starting out. They both loved having their family close to home. Many memories were made on Airport Road, from yearly Christmas parties at the Hackls, Hewitsons, Langanki’s, Stratfords and Desautels, Weddings and Birthdays. She enjoyed travelling every summer and sometimes at Christmas to visit her son Garnet and Kids along with visiting her Sister Pat (Dell) and several Nephews and Nieces. She never missed an important event, Grads, Weddings, Births she always attended. She always kept in contact with her family no matter the distance as she loved to talk on the phone, although you only knew the conversation was over when you heard the distinct click of the receiver she never said good bye.
Marjorie had several jobs in her lifetime, The Dryden House, The Central, McCleods, and her favourite was at Timberlanes. She loved the people she worked with like they were family, she was a hard worker and never complained. Many of Timberlanes customers would fondly remember her for her potty mouth, she could take an insult as good as she could give one, all with a devilish grin causing anyone sitting around the counter to erupt in laughter. Marjorie once told the story when the original Dryden House burnt down, she was the last one out of the door with the cash box under her arm.
Marjorie was an avid reader having read hundreds if not thousands of books during her retirement. She could read a book cover to cover in a couple of days, her granddaughters Amy and Cassie made it their mission to keep her updated on the newest arrivals her favourites were auto biographies, crime stories and the Fifty Shades books. Amy supplying the crime novels and Cassie with her fantasy novels; to which Marjorie always quoted as “weird”.
Although Majorie did not show her emotions, we all knew she loved her family fiercely and was always proud of their accomplishments. There was always a card delivered to acknowledge an important event signed Love Mom, Grandma or Marg.
She made many impressions in everyone’s lives, and she will always be remembered in so many stories and with great fondness. She will never be forgotten.
