Charlotte Violet Whyte (née Clearwater)
September 27, 1920 – August 17, 2023
Charlotte was born on September 27, 1920 in Roseisle, Manitoba. She lived there until she met guitar player John Laurenson Whyte in Graysville, Manitoba where he was playing at a dance. They married and lived in Winnipeg until the 50’s when they moved to Dryden and settled on the shores of Wabigoon Lake to raise their family. They had three children: James (Betty), Maureen (Brian) and Dale (Wayne). Charlotte was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Charlotte was a member of the Dryden Eastern Star Lodge. She worked many years at the Quality Bakery as well as baked and decorated many wedding cakes from home for friends and family. Most people in Dryden remember behind the counter at the Dryden Pharmacy where she worked as the cosmetician for 27 years.
Being a farmgirl, she loved the outdoors and her flower gardens, she could grow anything. She made everything from dandelion wine to pickles and dried herbs. She loved the outdoors, walking, skiing, and fishing. She had a habit of leaving her rod at the dock with something to hold it down while she ran up to the house, and usually found a fish on her line upon her return.
She loved to have company to play cards, or do crafts, or just to share stories over a cup of tea. She had so many great talents, and it seemed she could do anything she tried. Charlotte loved her ceramics and knitting and was a skilled seamstress (patterns were optional). Surely anyone who knew her can look around their home and find something made by her with her initials CW or her name embroidered inside.
In May of 2014, Charlotte left her home to move into Princess Court. She lived there until her passing.
We will cherish the many memories of the wonderful meals, cups of tea, card games and times we all enjoyed with Mom (Gramma Charlotte).
As per Charlottes wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time. Burial will take place at a later date.
